Group Activities
"That Bugs Me"
In this small group lesson, students were given Play-Doh and asked to make any kind of bug that they do not like, or that scares them.
After making the bugs, students can discuss feelings or things that "bug" them.
Come up with strategies for the students to "squish" or cope with these things that bug them. Then allow the students to squish their bugs and then make a bug they do like.
Discuss feeling/things that they liked and why.

Get to Know You Jenga
A great icebreaker! Take a game of Jenga and write questions for the students to answer.Â
I would always take a turn with the students to allow them to get to know me as well. So much fun!
Self-Control Remote
For an emotion regulation group, we were learning to control ourselves.
For this activity you will need "remote controls."
On the volume buttons, and channel changing buttons, students wrote things like "Turn Down Voice", "Calm Down", etc.

On the number buttons students wrote different coping mechanisms to help them calm down/self-regulate.
